Support artists and shop local! Happy to share that a selection of my small plein-air works are on view and for sale through September at the Hill-Stead Museum shop. It's a lovely place with lovely people working there. The grounds (free to visit) are also just perfect for a summer stroll.

sunday painting

Wish me luck, followers. I've been on a Sunday painting habit and have yet to break my streak the last month. It is my hope that I'll have an opportunity to exhibit what I create in this series.

River Valley Artists Tour - October 8-10, 2022

I've been taking advantage of the long summer days to paint outdoors in the lower Connecticut River Valley. Sometimes, life brings me further afield, and this summer I've also had painting sessions in the North Fork of Long Island and Iceland! All of the oil paintings I create in the next 2 months will be on view and for sale in the Connecticut River Valley Artists Tour, taking place October 8, 9 and 10 from 10-5 PM. My work will be hanging at the Essex Art Assocation in lovely Essex, CT. Details and a brochure will be published in coming weeks.

Artists Respond Grant Recipient

I am so happy to announce that my submission to the Connecticut Office of the Arts/New England Foundation for the Arts call for artists has been accepted. My proposal "Art in Your Backyard" is a project that I will complete this summer in partnership with my father, a lifelong hobbyist painter. Our goal is to encourage the general public of all ages that painting can be a meaningful activity for calming the mind and raising our spirit in these difficult times of the COVID19 crises. We will each create a painting in my parents backyard, and create a small instructional video to discuss our artistic choices and the impact of them. Our goal is to share this video with the general public as well as partners at a local senior center and Veterans Affairs office.

PROPOSAL: The Connecticut Office of the Arts recognizes that artists help us through challenging times and is committed to investing in artists' ability to provide respite through inspiration, connection and education.  The Connecticut Artists Respond Grant Program provides funding to artists and teaching artists to support the creation and presentation of free and accessible on-line arts-based experiences, learning opportunities and services to audiences across Connecticut - and beyond - using the World Wide Web
